Welcome to the online home of Fen Drayton Pre-School based in the lovely rural setting of Fen Drayton Village Hall. We hope you find all the information you need, whether you are a new parent or carer looking for a Pre-School for your child, or are a parent or carer of a child already registered and attending our setting.

About Us

Fen Drayton Pre-School provides a safe, friendly and caring environment for children from 2 ½ to school age. We offer the children a varied and spacious play environment at Fen Drayton Village Hall which has the benefit of green outdoor space overlooking the playing field. Fen Drayton Pre-School is a small Pre-School for up to 16 children offering them the opportunity to develop and grow in a very supportive environment, ensuring they are confident and ready for school. Pre-School activities are structured around the national Early Years Foundation Framework and all children are regularly observed to ensure they are progressing. Staff at the Pre-School have had experience of working with children who have learning difficulties or disability and actively engage with professionals like Speech and language Therapists which has positive outcomes for children.

The children are happy and feel safe and secure due to the close relationships they form with the staff and each other. This gives children the confidence to become independent and settle quickly to activities.” (Ofsted report 2011)

Fen Drayton Pre-School is a member of the Pre-School Learning Alliance and is also a registered charity. We opened in 1982, and have been established within the community for over 30 years. For over 20 years the Pre-School has been managed and led by Diane Warboys, and is currently assisted by Anne Hodson who are qualified to NVQ level 3 and 2 respectively. The Pre-School is run in partnership with Diane with an elected volunteer committee, all of whom are checked by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS – formerly the Criminal Records Bureau – CBR). The Committee oversee the governance of the Pre-School, and do a lot of work to help organise our numerous community fundraising events in aid of the Pre-School. We have particularly close links with Fen Drayton School and actively seek opportunities to do events together which helps familiarise the Pre-School children with a school setting.

Opening times

The Pre-School is currently open during terms times on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 9.15 to 12.15 and Friday 9.15-3.00.

Fees from September 2013 are £10 per 3 hour session.

From the age of 3, all children are eligible for 15 free Pre-School hours during term time. This is claimed from the first term after their third birthday through the Pre-School whom collect the fees on your behalf. You are able to split your 15 free hours with one other setting if you wish.

Our most recent inspection was in October 2011 which confirmed our provision was 'satisfactory' over, meaning our provision is 'sound'.

Since then we have worked on the areas highlighted for improvement which include:

- record keeping

- ensuring planning consistently takes into account the interests of children and provides opportunities to challenge children to further extend their learning

- making sure observations are more consistent and effectively presented in children's recordes soit is easy to track children's progess.
